Amazon of Europe Day & BIG JUMP

Hungarian celebrations

This year WWF Hungary challenged the country to participate in Big Jump by organizing their own events with this year’s motto: “The panda told me to jump”, with a splashing cartoon panda.

15 towns and villages answered the call with various and very creative "little jumps". WWF will choose a winner according their self-made event videos – as a reward, the winner of the Hungarian Big Jumps will host the WWF Living Danube Tour and will take part in a daytrip to one of our offices’ project sites.

The main WWF event took place at Dunabogdány - a city near the capital at an incredible spot next to the Danube- where the WWF Living Danube Tour was present as well. The varied programme included a beach volleyball tournament, a giant Coca Cola slide, a water gun battle, all day canoeing, handmade panda tattoos, music, a photo exhibition and an interview with Tamás Végvári, a kayaker, who paddled 5 days in June 2015 along the side braches and oxbows of the Biosphere Reserve "Mura-Drava-Danube". More than 250 people jumped into the Danube at 3pm - a memorable event with an amazing atmosphere and lots of smiling faces.

The event received impressive media coverage: the Hungarian news agency and several reporters were present and the "Big Jump" message was delivered on many media channels, including a 3 minutes long report in the evening news of the national TV!
