On 7 September 2025, Green Osijek organised the TBR MDD Festival, ‘Magical Forest’, which transformed the picturesque woodlands surrounding the Zlatna Greda Eco Centre into a vibrant celebration of nature conservation, sustainable development, creativity and education. Designed as an immersive outdoor experience, the festival offered 15 different programmes and workshops to engage visitors of all ages.
Popular activities included creating a large-scale TBR MDD map on canvas, building an insect hotel, and a LIFE RESTORE for MDD educational programme workshop focused on birds. Visitors could also enjoy making terrariums, horse riding, cycling, and an outdoor theatre performance. These hands-on creative sessions encouraged learning through play, sparking curiosity about ecosystems, restoration and science.
Those looking for adventure could join a guided cycling tour through the forests and wetlands of Kopački Rit, offering an active way to explore one of Croatia’s largest and most valuable wetland areas.
As evening fell, visitors gathered for a lantern-lit night walk through the forest – an atmospheric experience that revealed the calm and mystery of the woods after dark. The site was also brought to life with a colourful light festival, and music throughout the day and evening created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. A variety of local dishes completed the programme, giving guests a taste of regional specialities.
With over 1,000 participants, ‘Magical Forest’ became the largest and most popular festival ever held at Zlatna Greda. Families, cyclists, nature lovers and curious visitors from across the TBR MDD region came together to celebrate the outdoors, making the festival a standout community event for sustainability, education and nature-based recreation in eastern Croatia.
