New Round of “Lower Murtal Biosphere Reserve Ambassadors” Training Kicks Off

Training has officially begun for the next generation of ‘UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Lower Murtal Ambassadors’ organised by the Styrian Volcano Land – Regional Management of Southeast Styria (RMSO). Over the course of five days, engaged citizens, educators, tourism professionals and local employees will take part in an inspiring educational programme combining lectures led by experts and hands-on excursions on both sides of the Mura River.

The training is based on the principle of “acquiring, anchoring, and imparting knowledge”. Participants will explore the unique ecological value of the biosphere reserve, focusing on river and floodplain forest habitats and their rich biodiversity.

By the end of the programme, they will be ready to serve as ambassadors, raising awareness and sharing knowledge to promote the reserve within their communities, networks, and workplaces. They play a vital role in raising the profile of the biosphere reserve and supporting a shared understanding of its ecological and cultural significance.
